Connecticut Addiction Treatment at WCT

Everyone’s different. Our approach is anything but one-size-fits-all. We’re here to help you find the approach to substance use disorder treatment that works for you. Connecticut addiction treatment at WCT Behavioral Health and Wellness may involve:

Therapy

For many people with substance use disorders, outpatient counseling or therapy is an important part of treatment. Finding a provider who knows what you’re going through and how to help matters. All of the therapists at WCT Behavioral Health and Wellness have unique areas of specialty. For example, one therapist might specialize in substance use disorders and trauma, but another might specialize in eating disorders. During the intake process, WCT Behavioral Health and Wellness will help you find a provider who specializes in substance abuse and other concerns you might be facing. Depending on your situation and goals, therapy for substance use disorders can help you:

  • Bypass urges to use drugs and alcohol.
  • Establish healthy coping strategies.
  • Address underlying causes of and triggers for substance abuse.
  • Navigate triggers and set boundaries in daily life.
  • Communicate with and repair relationships with loved ones after addiction.
  • Build a strong support system.

Different types of therapy can be used to help people with substance use disorders. For example, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) are often used in addiction treatment. We offer an eclectic blend of treatments, including but not limited to CBT, DBT, EMDR, Trauma-Informed CBT, Gottman Method, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Strength-Based Therapy, Culturally Sensitive, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Life Coaching, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. This lets us tailor treatment to your needs. We offer group and individual therapy, both of which can be highly beneficial for people overcoming substance use disorders.

Medication Management

Some people with substance use disorders and related concerns may need medication management services alongside therapy. We offer Medication Management in addition to therapy so that you can get your comprehensive mental and behavioral health needs met all under one roof. This includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for clients with opioid use disorder.

Co-Occurring Disorders and other Treatment Considerations

Many people looking for substance abuse treatment in CT will have co-occurring mental or behavioral health concerns. For example, there is a high prevalence of ADHD, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and other conditions in people with substance use disorders. When that is the case, it is essential that people can get dual-diagnosis (integrated) care. This means that both or all concerns can be addressed simultaneously.

Other things can affect your addiction treatment needs, too. For example, gender, your job, past trauma in medical settings, or something else. We provide LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, therapy for women’s mental health, trauma-informed care, therapy for caregivers and first responders, and a wide range of other services. We want to know your context. Your holistic experience as a person matters for the quality of care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does specialized care for women's mental health matter?

Yes. WCT Behavioral Health and Wellness accepts Husky (Medicaid), Medicare, Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, and other types of insurance. To verify your insurance coverage for addiction therapy, call us or contact us online.

Substance use disorders are treatable conditions that involve symptoms, such as cravings for (intense urges to use) drugs and alcohol and an inability to stop or reduce the use of substances despite negative consequences. There are different types of substance use disorders. For example, alcohol use disorder, cannabis use disorder, or opioid use disorder.

Yes! We take great care to protect our clients’ privacy and are in compliance with HIPAA. Everything you say is kept entirely confidential, save for rare exceptions we are required to report, such as instances of suspected child or elder abuse or when a client poses an immediate threat of danger to themselves or someone else.

Qualified healthcare professionals, like psychiatrists, can provide a formal evaluation for a substance use disorder and diagnose you if you meet the criteria. There are a lot of stereotypes and misconceptions about what a substance use disorder is, which often leads people to struggle in silence for far too long.

The most important advice we can give is this: Don’t wait to reach “rock bottom.” Substance use disorders range from mild to severe. You only need 2-3 symptoms to be diagnosed with a substance use disorder. You do not need a diagnosis to schedule a consultation with us.

Early intervention is incredibly beneficial when it’s possible. Outpatient therapy can prevent the need for future hospitalizations and higher levels of care. Seeing a provider like a therapist or psychiatrist is a great first step if you’re wondering whether you might have a substance use disorder.

Yes. We provide outpatient medication management and therapy services. However, there are instances in which a person might need a referral to a higher level of care (e.g., inpatient medical detox, residential drug rehab). Our team is here to provide referrals to higher levels of care as needed. Many people also work with us as they transition out of a higher level of care.

Ready to Begin?

We make everything that follows as simple as possible. One call to our intake line is all it takes — we’ll verify your insurance, answer your questions, and match you with the right provider. No endless forms. No long waits. Just a real person who will help you find your way to care.
