Tamar Saunders

LCSW, LADC

Tamar Saunders is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor who has over 25 years of experience in the field of behavioral health treatment.  She has worked in a variety of settings that include residential substance abuse treatment, inpatient detox, psychiatric hospitals, adolescent residential treatment, and outpatient behavioral health treatment. 

Tamar has experience working with older adolescents in both outpatient and residential settings as well as adults. She has experience working with a variety of diagnosis that include oppositional defiant disorder, reactive attachment disorder, anxiety, depression, substance dependence, and trauma. Tamar utilizes a variety of clinical skills and treatment modalities that include Cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention. She is versed in both abstinent based models and harm reduction for the treatment of substance abuse disorders. 

Tamar utilizes an individualized and holistic approach and includes in her work combining mindfulness, meditation, and stress relaxation techniques as part of her practice. Tamar believes in building a therapeutic alliance to meet the needs of each client and assist them in finding their own inner strength to assist individual in moving forward in their journey of healing and recovery.
