Miranda Luis

LPC-A

Welcome! I am a firm believer in the helpfulness of being able to talk to a warm, supportive person about anything that may arise in your daily life no matter how big or small, which is why I entered this field.

Miranda Luis is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) who received a master’s degree in Psychology from Southern Connecticut and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University. Here she was also awarded the Outstanding Field Placement award. She has experience working with teenagers, young adults, adults & couples/families struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, grief, and life transitions along with other areas. She is also a military wife who has dedicated some of her counseling career to Crisis/Trauma counseling, working with PTSD/Trauma within all populations but having a specialized focus on Military/Veterans and first responders.

She believes counseling is a place you should feel comfortable, safe, and enjoy attending. She also believes that life isn’t about finding perfection but being open to learning from our mistakes and experiences, discovering ourselves, learning to grow, & work through the storms thrown our ways, while also understanding that these parts of our lives do not define who we are or who we can be for the rest of our lives. She utilizes a person-centered therapy approach with a collaboration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) within her treatment & Self Care/Mindfulness. She is also working towards her EMDR certification (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) which is highly effective with the use of CPT with trauma/PTSD clients.

Miranda has worked with those who are struggling with where they are currently in life and where life is headed based on their life transition. She also has worked with the grief of losing loved ones and friends, divorce, relationship issues, social issues, as well as general mental health issues, including low self-esteem and anxiety. She has helped with managing and working past intrusive thoughts, and self-destructive behaviors, and helps you learn/develop healthy coping skills to work through these situations outside of therapy as well. Miranda implements a relaxed, laid-back approach, which provides support, compassion, and empathy within her overall desire to help clients work through the barriers in life or within themselves to accomplish their overall goals. Miranda works in person at both the Bristol & Brookfield locations and offers Telehealth as well.
